The weather is going to be perfect to head outside the office and enjoy the City of Adelaide Tour Village for a scrumptious lunch or some knock-off drinks while enjoying the sights and sounds of the Santos Tour Down Under.

If like Themis Chryssidis, the co-founder of cooking school and catering juggernaut Sprout, you feel like your wheels have been spinning throughout 2022, then ducking down to the Tour Village is just the ticket for some summer vibes.
“I’d love to be on a bike, but feel like I’m more on a hamster wheel,” Themis says.
“Cycling is great but I think it’s a pretty involved lifestyle and I don’t have five hours to go out for a ride.”
Instead, the young dietician and cook is serving up wholesome food all week with business partner Callum Hann and their chefs from Sprout at the Rolling Regions popup in the Tour Village.
Themis Chryssidis of Sprout is cooking up regional produce at the Rolling Regions cafe throughout the Santos Tour Down Under.
Sprout has designed the menu to feature the best ingredients from the regions that the Santos Tour Down Under rolls through this week.
“The TDU is finally back and it’s a global event so we wanted to showcase South Australian produce to the world,” Themis says.
“Each menu has a region attached to it and each region has a stage.”
All the regional delicacies are available every day but why not eat your way through the TDU by chowing down on the featured region of the day?
There is a $15 Coorong Mullet slider representing the Fleurieu, a $28 Lamb Shoulder from McLaren Vale, an $18 Porchetta Panini from Clare, a $15 Panna Cotta from the Adelaide Hills, and a $13 Kingfish Taco from the Eyre Peninsula – just so they don’t feel left out.
Themis says that Rolling Regions will provide a bit different of an experience than the food offering in other years because it will be a proper café in the Tour Village.
“You can of course come and grab a taco to take away but you can also come, sit down and have a proper meal with a knife and fork and a glass of wine while enjoying the live music or the Tour telecast,” Themis says.
Plus, if all the fit cyclists make you subconscious about chowing down on lamb shoulder, Themis says that Sprout’s ethos of cooking nourishing food makes their dishes good for you too.
“When you cook with quality, seasonal produce grown locally that naturally makes it delicious as well as healthy,” he says.
The Rolling Regions is just one of the many food offerings throughout the Tour Village.
Comida from Handorf is offering up paella and more, while Fine and Fettle are specialising in dumplings, Fiesta Tajine is the place for loaded chips and Gelista is serving up dessert.
Popping down to the Tour Village for knock off drinks is also a good option, just in time to see the riders return from their daily grinds while sipping a cold beverage and promising you’ll get on a bike soon.
There are $6 Hahn Superdry beers on offer between 5:30pm and 6:30pm each evening, as well as Seppeltsfield 2022 Barossa Grenache Rose for the same price.
It’s a great way to wind down while listening to the nightly live music and enjoying a race recap.
The weather is going to be fine – even a bit cool at the end of the week – and the food is going to be hot and the drinks cold so there is no excuse not to enjoy the first festival of summer.
