Paddle steamers, vintage wooden speedboats, sailing boats, row boats and more will gather in the River Port of Goolwa, South Australia, for the 2015 Wooden Boat Festival.

The February festival draws thousands of people to the historic Goolwa Wharf Precinct on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

The Goolwa Paddle Steamer, Oscar W, and Paddle Steamer Marion of Mannum, both over 100 years old, will offer public cruises over the duration of the weekend festival.

Program highlights include the flotilla arrival, grand parade, a 'rough and ready' boat building display, vintage riverboat demonstration, rowing race, speedboat trials and fireworks.

Alexandrina Council Mayor Keith Parkes says that the South Australian Wooden Boat Festival generates a massive amount of interest in Goolwa.

“People come from all over Australia to revel in the timeless quality of wooden boats. The South Australian Wooden Boat Festival is a fantastic opportunity to showcase boats from all over Australia.”
