An additional AUD $4 million will be invested in to the Plan for Accelerated Exploration (PACE) scheme, enabling resources companies to fast-track applications for exploration and more.
A resources precinct will be established at Tonsley Park, including a $32 million core library and Onshore Petroleum Centre of Excellence (OPCE).
Treasurer Tom Koutsantonis said the OPCE will ensure petroleum operators will have the facilities to up-skill their workers now and into the future.
“This new facility will provide a fully immersive simulated oil and gas production environment to be used for technical training, including safety, environmental and sustainable operational principles and key maintenance activities,” said the Treasurer.
The OPCE has attracted a wide range of support, including TAFE SA, as well as industry partners SANTOS, Beach Energy and Senex Energy.
A further $4 million will also be invested in to the Mining and Petroleum Services Centre of Excellence, bringing the total to $10 million.
$4 million has also been earmarked for the construction of an air strip at Innamincka, a primary servicing location for oil and gas exploration companies in the north of South Australia.
