Your beer will stay fresh for 50% longer: University of Adelaide researchers develop new non-GM barley variety named 'Charger'

THE Barley Breeding group from the University of Adelaide has reported that its promising new variety, named ‘Charger’, has completed its second year of commercial trials.

Under the leadership of Jason Eglington, and in partnership with Heineken and Carlsberg, the variety was bred using non-GM methods and is achieving encouraging results.

“You can actually expect at least a 50 percent longer freshness of the beer,” says Carlsberg’s Birgitte Skadhauge.
