Australia’s best wine industry suppliers were honoured last night at the Wine Industry Suppliers Australia Inc (WISA) ninth annual Supplier of the Year Awards held at the Adelaide Festival Centre in South Australia.
This year three of the top five awards went to companies based in South Australia.
WISA executive officer Matthew Moate said the dominance of South Australian supply companies reflected the fact that the state is Australia’s leading wine producer and therefore provided the companies with plenty of work.
“There is a lot of work and innovation that goes into getting that bottle to the table,” Moate said. “And South Australia is leading the pack.”
South Australian based national refrigeration specialist Cold Logic won the Supplier of the Year Award.
Cold Logic, which has chilled over 655 million cases of wine over three decades, was awarded for its ability to deliver innovative, customised solutions that provided both cost savings and environmental benefits.
The Wine Business Magazine Export Award was won by logistics supplier Wineworks Australia, based in Adelaide, for their service supporting wine exporters.
“Wineworks provides valuable export market intelligence and support to its customers,” said Tim Duval, the chairman of the judging panel.
The Chr Hansen Chairman’s Industry Engagement Award was won by Scholle Industries and their project partners Accolade Wines, Yalumba Family Vignerons, De Bortoli Wines and grape grower CCW Co-operative.
They won for their joint efforts in the revitalisation and repositioning of the cask wine market through the national ‘Ask for Cask’ campaign.
“Scholle Industries showed leadership and initiative in attempting to turn around the fortunes of the cask wine market through the Ask for Cask campaign,” said Duval. “Their collaborative approach is a model that other suppliers should aspire to replicate as it is an exceptional example of how a supplier can be at the very heart of generating positive outcomes for a wine category.”Jump to next article
