The race will feature a stunning course around the north of Adelaide, including the iconic Adelaide Oval.

The route has been rated as one of the best duathlon courses in the world.

Reigning World Duathlon Champions Benoit Nicolas and Sandra Levenez will headline the list of international athletes that will flock to Adelaide, but they will face stiff competition from former Champions Jarrod Shoemaker from the United States and Australia’s Felicity Sheedy-Ryan.

Local athletes will also being vying for world placings, including Fuse Multisport Racing Team members Fern Davies and Daniel Canela, and Ethan Woodeford.

There will also be plenty of opportunities for fans and spectators to get involved.

“The Championships are not just for athletes and professionals but for people of all ages and abilities,” says Jenny Mann, the general manager of the event.

“We're working to get spectators involved by holding a fun run and a parade of nations.  We also have different games organized for children,” Mann said.

The event will cater food for all the athletes and staff during race days and fans are invited to take part in one of the world’s largest pasta parties as part of the opening ceremony on Thursday evening.

“We’re encouraging people to come down and cheer on the athletes. It’s really important for us to engage with fans,” Mann said.

With an estimated 5000 spectators a day, it is proving to be a massive coup for South Australia who is projected to receive an excess of $4m in revenue.
