ADELAIDE has been rated as one of the Top 10 liveable cities in the world, a rank it has maintained for the past three years.

Ranked number five by The Economist Intelligence Unit in its annual survey of global cities, Adelaide shares the spot with Calgary with both scoring a overall rating of 96.6.
Adelaide has worked its way up the list from ninth in 2011 while Calgary has maintained its position.
Tying in scores for healthcare, education and infrastructure, Adelaide outdid Calgary for culture and environment while losing in the stability category.
Adelaide is well known for its festivals and Mediterranean climate and lifestyle.
Mid-sized cities in wealthier countries dominated the top of the list, suggesting that “a low population density can foster a range of recreational activities without leading to high crime levels or overburdened infrastructure.”
Australia and Canada shared eight of the top 10 placings, with Melbourne, Victoria maintaining top spot.
