That’s the challenge being put to entrepreneurs and investors ahead of a startup conference in South Australia next week.
The SouthStart conference in Adelaide will bring together local, interstate and international startups to talk business growth and innovation.
Conference director and entrepreneur Steve Barrett said this year’s theme ‘Going Global’ was about encouraging newly established entrepreneurs to think beyond Australian borders.
“It tells them that they don’t necessarily need to think about distribution on just a local scale but that they can definitely break down the global barriers and export their product into an international market,” he said.
“When we say ‘Going Global’, we’re saying stop thinking inside the box and start thinking outside the box.”
Notable speakers include biomedical engineer and TV presenter Dr Jordan Nguyen, Simon Conway from UK tech startup Zegami and Flavia Tata Nardini from Fleet Space Technologies.
Dr Nguyen said startup businesses were crucial to the advancement of society.
“Whether they focus on life-changing inclusive technology, environmental sustainability, or renewable energy systems, successful startups are most often built on dreams for a better future,” he said.
The conference, to be held on July 5 and 6 at the Adelaide Convention Centre is part of Entrepreneurs Week.
Building upon the success of last year’s program, the 2017 Entrepreneurs Week aims to showcase the latest in immersive technologies and workspaces, innovation and social entrepreneurship.
Other events during the week include networking conferences, a leadership summit and an open data competition.
The 2017 Entrepreneurs Week program begins on Monday, July 3 and runs through to Friday July 7 with events held across Adelaide.
