THE program for Australia’s leading international arts festival has been launched.
The OzAsia Festival in Adelaide, South Australia, enters its 10th year with an expanded line up of contemporary Asian artists across dance, music, film and visual arts.
OzAsia Festival Director Joseph Mitchell said the festival, which runs from September 17 to October 2, would give audiences an insight into the vibrant arts scene in Asia.
“Asia is where the rules for contemporary performance are being shaped for the 21st century,” Mitchell said.
“No one else is pulling all these art forms together in Australia so we will have 35 Australian premieres in Adelaide.”
One of the premieres will be Skin, a work by Malaysian company TerryandtheCuz in collaboration with Australian choreographer Ashley Dyer. The participatory work explores the physical and mental torture suffered by refugees.
