The event begins on 15th of October with a parade of nations in Elder Park, followed by a pasta party where spectators and athletes alike will have a chance to explore some of the racecourse.
Pasta alone won’t keep the elite athletes running and cycling, so we’ve found seven places to go to refuel after a long day on the course.

Two must visit café’s for a healthy, energy filled breakfast are The Big Table and Goodies & Grains Kitchen. The Big table has been in the Market for over twenty years and boasts a healthy Western style breakfast that is sure to help kickstart your day. They serve large generous portions that always leave you satisfied and also have a vegetarian friendly menu. The Big Table is a popular breakfast and lunch destination and you might have to wait a minute or two to get your food, but the wait is worth it.
2. Goodies & Grains Kitchen
The second café on this list from the Central Markets is Goodies & Grains Kitchen. If you are vegetarian or vegan, no matter your preference, Goodies & Grains will cater to you. Their food consists of both sweet and savory options and they are open for breakfast and lunch every day except for Sunday. This café is designed for takeaway and if you’re on the go this weekend, this is the ideal place to grab some breakfast.

Sushi Planet is one of Adelaide’s best known Japanese restaurants and although it may not maintain as extensive a menu as a few other places, it makes up for it with a healthy serving of delicious and quality sushi and sashimi. It is not as cheap as other sushi joints, but Sushi Planet does include a choice of brown rice or quinoa which make it a must visit.

When you are looking for a quick breakfast smoothie or small bite to eat, the Eat Clean Organic Kitchen at James Place is where you want to go. Service is quick and friendly and the size of the protein shakes and smoothies are extremely filling and satisfying.

When you are absolutely famished and you’ve only had a light breakfast, head over to Two-Bit Villains. This American styled restaurant has a great selection of burgers and cream sodas. Located upstairs in the beautiful Adelaide Arcade ballroom it will both appease your appetite and delight your senses. They are able to tailor the burgers to your needs, whether you are on a vegan or gluten free diet, but their Baron Burger should be on your list of things to try before you leave.

When you are winding down and need a big dinner to end the long day, treat yourself to an amazing meal at North Adelaide’s Gin Long Canteen. It is a Western influenced Asian restaurant that is very reasonably priced considering the quality of its food. Not only is their food packed with flavor, but their cocktails are really tasty as well. If you are visiting Adelaide for at least the weekend, you have to visit Gin Long before you leave.
